Rev. Run was born as Joseph Simmons on November 14th, 1964 in Queens, New York, USA. As a teenager Simmons was the lead vocalist in the hip-hop group called "The Force”. He then founded the Hip Hop group “Run D.M.C.” with D.M.C. and Jam Master Jay.

In 1983 Run married Valerie Vaughn. In 1984 Run D.M.C. released “Run D.M.C.”.

In 1985 they released “King of Rock”. Also in 1985 they starred in the movie Krush Groove.

In 1986 they released “Raising Hell”. In 1988 they released “Tougher Than Leather”. Also in 1988 they appeared in the movie Tougher Than Leather.

In 1990 they released “Back From Hell”. In 1993 they released “Down With the King”. Also in 1993 they appeared in the movie Who’s the Man?. In 1994 Run married Justine Jones.

In 2001 they released “Crown Royal”. In 2002 he appeared on a special "Rap Stars" edition of “The Weakest Link”.

In 2004 Run became Rev. Run. In 2005 he released his 1st solo album “Distortion”. Also in 2005 he started his reality show “Run’s House”.

In 2007 Rev Run was honored as a BMI Icon at the annual BMI Urban Awards. In 2008 Simmons and his wife Justine teamed up with Kool-Aid and a non-profit organization called KaBOOM! to help build playgrounds in underdeveloped communities. Also in 2008 he released his book Take Back Your Family: A Challenge to America's Parents.

In 2014 he created the TV series “Rev Run's Renovation” and “Rev Run's Sunday Suppers”.

Today he turns 52 years old and we would all like to say happy birthday Rev. Run.
