Happy Birthday Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry was born as Emmitt Perry Jr. on September 13th, 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Perry was physically abused by his father. As a child Perry tried to commit suicide due to constant beatings. Perry went to church every week as an escape from his father. Also as a child Perry was molested by 3 men. At age 10 he was molested by one of his friend’s mother.

At 16 years old he changed his name to “Tyler Perry” to distance himself from his father. Perry didn’t complete high school. In his early 20’s he started to write musicals. In 1990 he moved to Atlanta, GA. In 1992 his 1st musical “I Know I’ve Been Changed” was performed. He financed the play himself with $12,000 from his savings. It was a financial failure. He rewrote the musical several times. In 1998 he succeed in retooling the musical.

In 2005 he sold more than $100 million in tickets, $30 million in videos of his shows and an estimated $20 million in merchandise. Also in 2005 he released his 1st movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

In 2006 he released Madea’s Family Reunion. Also in 2006 he released the TV show “Tyler Perry’s House of Pain”. Also in the year 2006 he released his book Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Madea's Uninhibited Commentaries on Love and Life.

In 2007 he released Daddy’s Little Girls. Also in 2007 he released Why Did I Get Married?. In 2008 he released Meet the Browns. Also in 2008 he released The Family That Preys. In 2009 he released Madea Goes to Jail.

Also in 2009 he appeared in the movie Star Trek. He also released the movie I Can Do Bad All By Myself in 2009. In the same year he released the TV show “Meet the Browns”. Also in 2009 Spike Lee criticized Perry’s work for being “Buffoonery”. In 2010 he released Why Did I Get Married Too?.

In 2011 he released Madea’s Big Happy Family. Also in 2011 he released the TV show “Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse”. In 2012 he appeared in Alex Cross.

Also in 2012 he released Good Deeds. He also released Madea’s Witness Protection the same year. Also in the year of 2012 Perry made a deal with Oprah Winfrey for a multi-year partnership of the OWN TV station. In 2013 he released Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. Also in 2013 he released A Madea Christmas.

Also in the year of 2013 Perry released the TV shows “The Haves and Have Nots” and “Love Thy Neighbor”. In 2014 he appeared in Gone Girl. In 2016 he appeared in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

Today he turns 47 years old and we would all like to say happy birthday Tyler Perry.
